The Metro Foundation is dedicated to becoming the leading provider of infectious disease-related education, training and access to timely, compassionate and innovative care. Through an array of programs and initiatives targeted to the medical community and general public, the foundation continues to develop quality education programs, direct patient care services and other infectious disease-related initiatives.

INSIDER Award - Event Overview

The Metro Foundation’s INSIDER Award (IN Support of Infectious Disease Education and outReach) is the foundation’s paramount honor. The newly created award will be given annually to honor an individual affiliated with the infectious disease community for their lifetime professional and personal accomplishments. The event – consisting of a VIP and general reception followed by a black-tie dinner – will bring together and galvanize the collective resources of the national infectious disease community, including medical professionals, industry vendors and other principal stakeholders. The inaugural event will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at the Hotel Intercontinental in Chicago.

Inaugural Honoree: Gordon Trenholme, M.D.

In partnership with Rush University Medical Center, The Metro Foundation is proud to announce that its inaugural INSIDER Award will be given to Gordon Trenholme, James R. Lowenstine Professor of Medicine and Director of the Section of Infectious Diseases at Rush University Medical Center. Dr. Trenholme has been the Program Director of the Infectious Disease Fellowship Program at Rush for over 15 years and has participated in the training of more than 100 fellows. He is regularly featured in lists of America’s best physicians and has been named one of Chicago’s top doctors in Chicago Magazine. Dr. Trenholme is also a contributor to over 200 publications.
