Medical Education ProgramsChicago Infectious Disease Board and Recertification Course In a partnership with Rush University Medical Center, The Metro Foundation currently offers a vastly successful infectious disease board review course for physicians, physician assistants, registered nurses and fellows-in-training. The need for board certification and re-certification preparation is extensive. Since 2004, attendance at the board review has grown from about 30 attendees in 2004 to over 125 attendees from 32 states and four countries in 2007. While two similar courses exist in the United States, the Metro Foundation Infectious Disease Board and Re-certification Course is currently the only one of its kind in the Midwest, and it is the only one in the country that is offered free of charge to physician fellows-in-training. The program is currently supported by the generous philanthropy of pharmaceutical companies in the form of unrestricted medical education grants.
